30 Day Wheat Free Diet Day 9 – The First Day of Week Two
Since the week one recap I wrote last night nothing has really changed body wise. My calf’s feel good my knees not as good. Not much has changed since last night and I think that’s the way it’s going to be from now on, just very subtle changes.
One thing has to change, and that’s my menu. I need to find more variety. Basically when I make a dish for breakfast, lunch or dinner I make extra and then I eat the same thing for two or three days it’s getting pretty boring. The only breaks come on my days off (from work) when I make a new batch of food for the next couple of days and have a fresh cooked dinner with the family. I’ll have to spend some time looking up some gluten free food ideas, but in the mean time I’ll crack into some of the GF foods I’ve bought, and when I do I’ll review them here.
Gluten Free Bread a Pleasant Surprise
Before I started this diet I procrastinated for months, I could not bring myself to even consider giving up bread or pasta, but after trying a few different breads I have to say I’m pretty happy and surprised. I’m surprised because I thought bread without wheat gluten would be awful, and I’m happy to say it’s not, especially if you like your bread toasted.

Udi’s Gluten Free Soft and Chewy Bagels
This was one of the first GF food items I bought, and I bought it because I couldn’t believe a bagel made without gluten could be any good. I was wrong; it is good, not great. If you happen to live in the Eastern United States you’re blessed with thousands of great bagel shops. Each making dozens of different varieties of soft chewy bagels, and Udi’s GF bagels do not compare to any of them. You can read my full review here.
So it’s one week down, and a new week starting today. This one doesn’t start with the apprehensions last week did, instead there’s a feeling of boredom. Boredom in the food I’m eating, and also with the foods I will eat in the future. So I better find something new soon.
